The TATA Group, renowned for its steadfast commitment to integrity, responsibility, and excellence, stands as a beacon of industrial achievement in India. Within its diverse portfolio, TATA Pigments holds a prominent position as a key supplier of synthetic iron oxide pigments across various industries including paints, construction, and paper, etc.

As a leading producer of premium synthetic iron oxide pigments, TATA Pigments is distinguished by its endorsement from the “Bureau of Indian Standards”, ensuring unmatched quality. The company's rich history dates back to 1927 when it pioneered the production of synthetic iron oxide pigments from waste pickle liquor. This initiative not only demonstrated environmental responsibility but also marked a significant milestone in India's chemical industry.

Originally established as Tatanagar Chemicals Limited and later rebranded as “Chemico” under the umbrella of Tata Iron & Steel Company Ltd. (TISCO) in 1937, the factory underwent a significant transformation when its was taken over by the Tata Iron & Steel Company Limited (TISCO). Renamed “Chemico”, the factory expanded its operations in 1958 to include the manufacturing of Sodium and Potassium Ferro-cyanide by utilizing Cyanide Sludge from Tata Steel’s coke oven gas washing paint.

In the 1980s, Indian Tube Co. Ltd. merged with TISCO, leading to Cyanides & Pigments Ltd. becoming a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Steel. Subsequently, in 1985, the company underwent another name change, rebranding form Cyanides & Pigments limited to TATA PIGMENTS LIMITED. Soon after, the company started its production of paints in 2000s to expand the business.

With a clientele comprising the nation's leading manufacturers of paints, TATA Pigments is synonymous with reliability and excellence in pigment supply. The company's recent modernization and capacity expansion efforts underscore its unwavering commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction.
